The End of Tenure in the US?

Tenure, RIP: What the Vanishing Status Means for the Future of Education  is an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education. While the tenured to nontenured faculty ratio is larger (than the average figures from the article) in the hard sciences, one cannot help asking whether in the years to come (and how soon) the tenure is indeed going to become a rare perk rather than a common standard, and whether the dichotomy tenured vs. nontenured faculty will be more or less equivalent to that of research-intense vs teaching-intense faculty.

Для точности. Это вопрос термиологии. Никакой разницы между take-home exam и домашним заданием нет. Проводить или не проводить the final exam и, тем более, контрольные по ходу курса - оставлено целиком на усмотрение преподавателя, кроме поточных курсов калкулуса на первых двух курсах. Я могу выставлять оценки без экзаменов и контрольных, скажем, просто по домашним заданиям - но в этом случае я предпочитаю не называть ни одно домашнее задание экзаменом. На самом деле я так систематически делаю, при этом одно из заданий индивидуальное - все студенты получают разные задания.
